Dear Third Grade Parents,
The time to learn the states and capitals has arrived! With the Midwest under our belts, we will continue to learn where the states are on a map of the United States and their capitals. This will be a continuation of the Midwest states and capitals quiz. Each week your child will be tested on the four new states and 6 random states that have been previously learned. The quizzes will be given on Thursdays, and right after the quiz, we will get the four new states for the following week. Grades will be recorded to track progress, but will only make up a small fraction of the social studies grade. The most important thing is that the children are learning the states and capitals and can locate the states by the time we finish. The first test will be after Thanksgiving Break on Thursday, December 3rd. Attached is a copy of the tentative quiz dates and the states that will be added to that week’s quiz! Please let me know if you have questions or concerns! Sincerely, Mrs. Brenda Stevens States and Capitals Schedule! Remember that all NEW states will be tested, as well as 6 previously learned states.
