PARCC Testing Information:
This week we began to prepare for the upcoming PARCC tests by reading passages and practicing answering comprehension questions and writing responses. This year, students will take the assessment online. To help increase familiarity with this format, this week we took 2 ELA practice tests. (English/Language Arts) While we will continue to do some practices at school, you may want to see the types of questions and/or have your child do some additional practice at home. This type of practice is NOT meant to boost scores, or cause any anxiety. It will allow the students see the types of questions they may encounter in a low-stress environment where they can ask questions, clarify concepts and vocabulary, practice clicking/using the mouse pad, etc. You can access these practice tests at https://parcc.pearson.com/practice-tests/ These are the same practice tests I'll be using at school, so your child may end up doing some of these tests twice. Practice never hurts! Next week, we will practice for the Math PARCC Tests. Again, this is just to familiarize the students with the new format.
