During tier two, half of the class is working on a website called XtraMath and the other half is working on a website called DreamBox. XtraMath provides math fact practice. DreamBox provides enrichment and reinforcement of third grade math skills. After 10-15 minutes of math practice, the students are allowed to do indepedent research about a state postcard. (This will start next week, as we were getting every up and running with the two websites this week). The students will pick a postcard from a state that interests them. First, they will write an interesting fact from the postcard. Next, they will reseach about the state to find five additional facts about the state. The students will list helpful websites they used. Finally, the students will create a state display of the facts using an iPad app. The i-Agent Postcard Journey will take several days and possibly several weeks to complete. Thank you to Mrs. Meyers for doing art appreciation today. The students really enjoyed the lesson. Look at your child's blog to see what he/she created during art appreciation. Book reports are due on Monday. Each students need to complete the book report using the Pixie app on their iPad. On Monday, I will have the students put their book report into dropbox and then I will print them. Halloween is Thursday. If you are planning to pick your child up for lunch on Halloween, you need to return the Halloween lunch note that went home last week. Friday, we will be having a pajama day read-a-thon. Students can wear pajamas to school and can bring a book from home (if they want to). Students can also bring a towel or blanket to school to lay on while reading. All extra items must fit in your child's backpack, as we don't have room in the classroom for extra bags. Hope you enjoy your weekend! We got 6 postcards today. 2 postcards are from a new state. We only need postcards from 8 more states to have a postcard from all 50 states. Ask your child to find out what states we are missing.
